Great SEO Marketing Strategies To Help Boost Your Online Reach

search engine optimization

If you want to boost your reach online, you need to engage in SEO. SEO (or search engine optimization) describes the process of trying to rank high on search engines such as Google and Bing. Websites that rank high on these search engines see substantial amounts of traffic and are therefore able to convert a substantial number of sales.

Interested in pursuing SEO? Looking for a little help? Here are some SEO marketing strategies for you to utilize.

1. Use Longtail Keywords

One of the keys to SEO is keyword usage. If you're not using keywords, you're not even entering the contest. Keyword usage is a must.

Now, there are two primary types of keywords: short-tail keywords and long-tail keywords. Short-tail keywords are simple and general; long-tail keywords are complex and precise. When first starting out, you're advised to heavily pursue the latter.

Why? Because long-tail keywords are far less competitive to rank for. And, sure, they might not get as much traffic as short-tail keywords, but the traffic that they do get knows what it wants and is ready to buy.

2. Create Content Consistently

If you want to succeed in SEO, you're going to have to create content. More importantly, you're going to have to create content consistently.

The more you create (and share on social media) content, the greater chance you'll give yourself of getting backlinks. The more backlinks your website gets, the higher it will rank.

Note, though, that your content must be of high quality. If it's boring, run-of-the-mill content, no one will read it and it will have no effect.

3. Get on Google My Business

SEO doesn't only happen on your website. It happens in a number of other areas as well, one of which is Google My Business.

Google My Business is the program that allows you to look through a list of local businesses in your area. It provides information on those businesses and shows where they're located on the map.

If you want your business to be discovered, you need to ensure that it's listed here. Not only will it alert online users to the existence of your business but it will also allow you to build a local citation (name, address, and phone information that helps search engines identify a business online).

You should also consider listing your business on Yelp and Bing Places for Business. These will provide further exposure as well as additional citations.

4. Optimize Your Images

A website without images is boring. But an image that hasn't been optimized . . . is bad for SEO. For this reason, you need to make sure that you're adding proper alt text to all of your photographs.

What is alt text, you ask? Alt text is a text version of the image, essentially describing what the image is. Your alt text should be a general description of the image and if possible, should contain your primary keyword.
